Metallic Embroidery

Personal Project
Process of embroidery for the 18th Century Riding Habit & Gilet

Interpreting the original costume and recreations, i re-created the embroidery design that borders the costume. To transfer this to the silk, I created templates using a heat pen and plastic to ensure accuracy and symmetry. To create the embroidery I used a twisted chain stitch and french knots on an Anchor metallic silver embroidery thread to create the floral design. The process of embroidery was completed on flat pattern pieces, backed with cotton organdie.
